The situation in the subway has something almost surreal: from an everyday moment it slides into an intense experience in which you are suddenly the center of attention. It raises questions such as: What caused that reaction? and How do we process such social pressure in public spaces? You are in the spotlight without actually wanting to be. This could be a metaphor for the idea that people always feel watched, even when they are not.

In this project, built using Unreal Engine 5.5, immersive audio cues amplify feelings of discomfort and heightened self-awareness. The lighting and subtle animation shifts intensify the surreal transition from everyday interactions to exaggerated social scrutiny. Unreal’s realistic rendering capabilities help magnify ordinary gestures, creating a psychologically resonant experience that provokes reflection on social anxiety, spotlight effects, and self-perception in public spaces.
